Banglalink CEO and 5 others summoned in copyright case
The lower court has ordered to issue summons to the officials of Banglalink to appear in the case of two separate cases filed by band artists James and Hamin. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for November 30 by the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes.
Earlier, Nagarbaul James and band Miles' Hamin Ahmed filed a case against mobile operator Banglalink in the same court on Wednesday under the Copyright Act for using songs without permission.
In the case, Banglalink was accused of using six songs of Nagarbaul James without permission. Banglalink has been accused of using two songs of the band Miles without permission.
Five officials of the company, including the chief executive officer of Banglalink, have been named as defendants in the case.
It is known that many of James's songs are still being used commercially by various organizations without permission. This time James has taken refuge in the law without getting any solution on these issues.
Earlier, on September 19, James went to the same court with an RG in a copyright case. The court did not accept his application and directed to file a case at Gulshan police station.
